This list is related to the Transtopia Island Project. In a nutshell, the idea is to:

• a) Assemble a group of like-minded individuals and collectively buy an island in the Bahamas or a similar place, and set up a Transhumanist intentional community there for "fun and profit" (and maybe even survival, should the world go to hell).
  
  
• b) If phase 1 goes as planned, we could expand the project to include a small artificial island (floating platform) on the high seas, which would in effect be an autonomous "country" -- a micronation.
  
  
• c) Alternatively, and perhaps more realistically, some older but still seaworthy ships could be purchased, registered under several carefully selected flags of convenience, and used as a mobile base; a floating freetown that would roam international waters and visit the more attractive uninhabited islands, and sometimes set up temporary settlements there. It would be an interesting social experiment, if nothing else.
